The IGCSE Option - Admissions for Year 10 & Year 11

Having Options
Teenagers are very fortunate today because they have options - being able to make a decisive and conscious choice with regards to their future.

Today, teenagers have the option to complete the national syllabus (SPM) or international syllabus like IGCSE.

There are pros and cons when we compare both, it really depends on which option suits you best and which option would help you accomplish your educational goals easily.

National or International syllabus?
The national syllabus is offered to all students at almost no cost as education is free in Malaysia.
The Malay, Math and science papers are quite high standard in SPM.
The national syllabus is taught in the Malay language which is not really a problem as our national language is Malay.

Why then do parents or students opt for the international syllabus?

The international syllabus is taught in English, so the students' English language proficiency must be high. It is recognised worldwide and in all our local private universities.

For students who do not intend to study in universities overseas, the IGCSE still helps them prepare for the rigorous syllabus they will face in university locally. What language is used in university? Yes, English.

The IGCSE syllabus and education principle is to create and mould students into GLOBAL citizens, who are critical thinkers and doers.

Students are encouraged and guided to question, think and then DO.

It's about learning not just getting strings of As in exams (though our students do extremely well in the IGCSE and most importantly they are trained to do their best and give it their all, so there's a sense of accomplishment and fulfilment when the results are out.

This option is available for current Form 2 and 3, or Year 8 and 9 students.

Younger students have the option to join our Primary or Year 7 classes.

If you are keen to explore the IGCSE option with the oxburgh method, If you are serious about moulding young minds to be critical thinkers and If you are serious about teenagers becoming doers, call us to discuss about this opportunity for your son or daughter.

The principal can meet parents by appointment.
Please call us 017 - 880 9883.

Here Here! Debate Tournament

So overwhelmed with emotion and pride as I'm typing this. Oxburgh debaters, you did us proud today. 3 weeks ago we embarked on this journey, from learning the rules, format and intricacies of debating to some fiery performances today. We at...e, breath, slept and even dreamed all things debate together. Hours and hours cooped up in the library together. Thanks to the researchers and supporters and ms shirley for supporting us throughout the process and endured the long hours today. Today, debaters, you found out what you are made of. You guys are made of sheer will and strength. 'Maz of dak' is witty and strategic, pushing through despite being sick, Derek is a strong leader and FAST learner, Jai is positive, charismatic and stylistic. Audre created the 'audre' and hung in there when it got tough, Mugil is cool, calm and collected, also won the most knowledgeable speaker award today, and raymond is a fiery speaker and has mad skills when it comes to rebuttals, quick thinking on his feet. Well done kids. You know now what you are made of. I'm so proud of you. Till the next debate tournament.
Xoxo. Ms Joline

Starting 2014 with a BANG!!!!!

We at Oxburgh Academy are extremely happy as the first term began with a BANG!!! So many new faces; new students and new teachers. The positive energy which flows through the entire school, in the classrooms and hallways is overwhelming.

The diversity in the school now is delightful, as we have students of different nationalities and culture learning from each other.

We are a BIG HAPPY family, and we hope that the buddy system which we have set up for the students helps in their learning experience.

Here's to a wonderful semester of learning and fun!
